Privacy policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026
This policy explains how StackSmart (“we”, “us”) uses personal information when you visit trystacksmart.com or sign up for our weekly email digest. StackSmart is the controller of this information.
What we collect
- When you sign up: your email address, your first name (if you give it), the tools you tick, and a record of your consent (the date and time, and which version of the consent wording you agreed to).
- When you use the site: our hosting provider automatically processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- Sending the weekly digest and a welcome email with your starter kit, personalised to the tools you ticked. Our lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), and under PECR we only email you if you’ve opted in. We use double opt-in: nothing is added to our list until you click the confirmation link we email you.
- Running and securing the website. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in providing a working, secure site.
Who processes it for us
- Resend sends our emails and stores our subscriber list. Resend is based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
- Vercel hosts this website and runs the signup functions. Vercel may process data in the United States and other countries, under similar transfer safeguards.
We don’t sell your data or share it with advertisers or sponsors.
How long we keep it
- If you don’t confirm your signup, we don’t keep your details. The confirmation link expires after 48 hours.
- Subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep only a minimal record that you unsubscribed, so we don’t email you again.
- Hosting logs are kept by Vercel for a limited period.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. Under UK data protection law you also have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
